It ain't Chinese algebra!

AM: 7 miles around GP

PM: 6 miles around Coos Bay. 

Treadmill at the hotel.  Took it easy the first 5 miles and then gradually increased the pace until the last 3 miles were ran at 5:24 pace.  All 10 miles at 2% incline.

10 miles to the flat roads west of town.  I got out a bit latter than normal and so I had enough light to make the trek west.  If it's too early, I avoid this route because it's extremely dark.  Too hard to see and the only time I've ever tripped and fallen was on this course.  Nothing needed beyond shorts, t-shirt and gloves today.  Perfect.

Ran 11 miles this morning instead of my usual 10.  Fun stuff!  Ran up 7th street so quite a few hills this morning.  Many more street lights on that side of town so I'll just have to run more hill this winter so I can see where I'm running.

Just wasn't feeling it this morning.  It's strange that some days 6 miles feels like an eternity but other days 18 miles feels like a cake walk.  Who knows...  Highlights of the run was seeing a sign that said "kids 4 sale @ 541-###-####" and the second was seeing a guy buying a 12 pack of beer at 8 AM.  Go figure.

10 miles tonight in Eugene.  Slept in this morning cause sometimes I'm a slacker.

10 miles on the hotel treadmill.  I forgot to pack a beanie and my watch.  No way I'm running outside without the beanie and I had to get back in time for an early start for work.  Thus the treadmill for a second consecutive run.

12 miles around the middle school, WalMart, the HS and then home.  Rough night with sick kids and I didn't get solid sleep so it felt like I was running on fumes.  It's going to be a long day..15 more miles on these shoes and then they're retired.  Never thought I'd get 700 miles out of one pair of shoes.  That's a record for me by a long shot.

11 miles around the HS and the various hills in that neighborhood.  My right knee was feeling jacked and I'm certain it was from yesterday's shoes.  Forget about hitting 700 miles with them...they are now retired.

Family is sick.  No sleep last night while staying in Eugene and then an early conference call.  No run today.

17 miles.  9 miles for a warm up in 6:53/mile average.  Ran out past WalMart and along the frontage road that runs parallel to the freeway to Rogue River.  Stopped and stretched a bit and then returned for a 7 mile tempo.  First mile was flat (5:32) and second mile was steep uphill (5:55).  Next two miles were gradual downhill (5:32, 5:25).  By then I was back to WalMart and it was basically flat from there to my house (5:23, 5:11, 5:18).  Averaged 5:29 for 7 miles and by the end I was exhausted.  1 mile cool down followed by a large glass of chocolate milk.

Two weeks ago (prior to my half marathon) I commented that I never get sick.  Guess I should have knocked on wood.  Our 3 year old got sick from a virus at church last week and I'm the last family member to succumb to the nasty bug.  Could be worse...at least I'm at home.  Last Thursday/Friday it knocked out my wife and other son while staying at a hotel in Eugene.  Blah!

Still sick, but getting better.  I guess this week is pretty much shot.

Too much work.

Same as yesterday.  Hopefully a 5 day rest from running does my body some good.  It's the first extended break I've had all year.

Don't think I'm going to hit my weekly goal of 70 miles...

10 miles around GP.  Cold out this morning, but that's to be expected I suppose.

AM: 10 miles this morning and with that, I'm already at 50% of my total mileage from last week.

PM: 5 miles on the hotel treadmill, watching the first quarter of MNF.  Fun stuff. 

9 miles around Eugene.  Not cold or rainy, but the winds were out in full force.  They're still working on Hayward Field so just like the past few months, I could only run around campus and not on the track.

Lots of rain made for a very wet, semi-cold run.  Better than nothing...

12 miles across the river to the half marathon course, then back through town to the north freeway exit and home via the HS and main highway.  I'm thankful I have the ability to run each day!

12 miles around the middle school, Wal-Mart and then home.  I was a little disappointed in the lack of shoppers at Fred Meyer and Wal-Mart.  In years past there wasn't a single parking space available but today there were plenty.  Perhaps it was due to Wal-Mart opening their doors at 10 last night and people were home sleeping/recovering from late night shopping.

9 miles today, but done in sections.  4 miles with Ryan, 3 by myself and then 2 more on the treadmill.  Pretty pathetic way to finish off the week.  This whole year feels like it's falling apart at the end.  I just can't seem to get back into a solid routine.

10 miles and now I'm off to Minnesota. Not looking like I'll have much of a chance to run this week.

10 miles in Minneapolis.  Note to self: next time when traveling to the upper midwest in November, pack warmer clothes.  I planned to run inside on the treadmill but there were none available so I hit the streets.  It was 36 degrees with a stiff wind.  You could say I was under-dressed in a t-shirt, shorts and socks for gloves.  Pretty funny looks from the locals as I ran along the streets while they were dressed in warm coats, beanies, ear muffs, gloves, scarfs, etc.

I ran towards St. Paul and turned around after 4 miles when I couldn't feel my fingers anymore.  When I got back to the city I ran past Target Field (Twins) and Target Center (Timberwolves).  VERY cool city.  Who would have thought??! 

10 miles in the same attire as yesterday.  Thankfully with was 2 degrees warmer (38) when I ran after work so that was nice.  I ran the opposite direction from yesterday and ran past the Metrodome and then crossed the river and ran through the University of Minnesota campus.  Their brand new football stadium was open and I was able to go down the the field.  Awesome stadium.  I'd love to go there on gameday.

Continued on by running past the basketball gym (U of M was playing some ACC team tonight), hockey arena (sadly, no game tonight or else I would have gone for sure) and other spots around campus.  Made it back to the hotel and took a hot shower to warm up.
